Cheap Flights vs. Package Deals

Cheap Flights are alluring, trust me I know, but sometimes you need to weigh the pros and cons of a cheap flight versus the all-in-one flight, hotel, car package deal.  Finding any kind of deal these days can be challenging and One Bag Wanderlust is here to help.

Here are some of my favorite travel sites I pursue daily in search of the elusive travel deal:

  • Google Flights
  • Google Matrix ITA Software-I find this search tool to be meatier than the generalized Google Flights.
  • Priceline.com
  • AA.com-believe it or not American Airlines has incredibly affordable flights and since their merger with US Airways seems to fly everywhere.
  • Real Deals-a section of the Budget Travel website offers incredible priced deals if you are willing to travel during the off-season.
  • Tripmasters.com-a full trip travel site with create your own packages along with pre-planned trips spanning the globe. I found my Ireland hotel/flight/car deal here and paid $699 a person for a Triple for a 7 day/6 night adventure.
  • WOW Airlines-an Iceland based airlines that offers inexpensive trips to Europe with a layover in Iceland.
  • Norwegian Air-Fly to Europe inexpensively to Europe from a select few cities in the United States in comfort on their brand new Dreamliner fleet.
  • Hipmunk-this site/app offers the most comprehensive travel search, bringing in travel options ranging from commercial flights to trains to charter flights and accommodations ranging from large hotels to home and apartments rentals through Airbnb and Homeaway.  Select deals and your nearest airport and be prepared to be awed.
  • Hopper-yet another fun site/app…it will change your life.
